Read MoreCGA completed the refurbishment works for Network Rail’s offices at Waterloo Station, London. The office space spans 80 000 sq ft, across four floors.
The offices were to remain occupied during the works and as a result the building programme was split into six primary phases of four weeks each. The time frame for the project meant that CGA had to coordinate a comprehensive programme to ensure the works could be carried out alongside our supply chain in a structured manner.
Electrical designs were implemented to suit new layouts, which now include meeting rooms across the building and a large café area. Lights were retained from the strip out in many cases to be reused however there were areas where new lighting had to be procured and installed. These included new Fagerhult fittings in meeting rooms, complete with new control systems and DALI dimming.
As per their DNA standard, Network Rail required us to supply bespoke joinery in multiple laminate colours, including new tea points and bespoke ‘working walls’ all of which were fitted with magnetic glass chat‐boards.
These areas were particularly challenging as their exact nature required arranging their manufacture to match measurements to walls which were generally constructed only several weeks before.
This meant strategic liaising with our joinery contractors was necessary to ensure they were delivered on time and to a high standard. The new walls included glass partitions that created the meeting rooms. Extensive drywall systems were installed in the creation of meeting rooms, kitchens, LAN rooms and separate office space.
We were successful in handing over all phases of the works in line with programme, as well as amendments from the client implemented throughout the project. The project also required the team to work out of regular hours to rework any alterations that affected areas that had already been completed. Our work consistently met all of Network Rail’s high standards throughout the works and at completion of the project.
