CGA recently completed a project to transform the reception and security area at The Goldsmiths Centre in Farringdon, London. The works focused on redesigning the reception space to enhance both security and aesthetics.

Project Scope For Reception Refurbishment

Reception Desk Overhaul: The existing reception desk was removed, and the entrance-facing wall of the security office was demolished to create space for the new integrated reception desk. Steel lintels were installed for structural support.

Electrical Integration: All electrical elements and trunking were reconfigured to accommodate the desk's sleek and efficient design.

Enhanced Security Measures: A new privacy screen was installed within the security room, allowing security personnel and reception staff to work more efficiently together.

Bespoke Joinery: The original reception desk was transported to our joinery contractor’s workshop, dismantled, and repurposed in the new design. The desk was constructed and deconstructed twice at Cre8 Joinery’s factory with the client team present to ensure approval of the finishing touches, guaranteeing a seamless and swift installation on-site.

Brand-Aligned Signage: Installation of new “Welcome” signage, painted with a specialist finish to match The Goldsmiths Centre’s branding.

Challenges and Solutions

Minimising Disruption: To reassure the client and minimise disruption during busy exhibition periods, the reception desk was assembled and disassembled twice at the factory with the client team present. This ensured a seamless and swift installation on-site within the set time frame.

Outcome

The project successfully enhanced the security and visual appeal of The Goldsmiths Centre’s reception area, perfectly aligning with their branding and operational needs.
