Holy Trinity Clapham turned 250 at the weekend. CGA was delighted to be invited to join the church's celebrations, which included services, prayer, music, children's activities, a choice of BBQ food and other refreshments for the large congregation.
The church celebrated its historic significance with its links to William Wilberforce and his circle, the Clapham Sect, who lived around Clapham Common during the late 1700s–1800s and worshipped at HTC while they campaigned for the abolition of the slave trade. A parish church, a group of friends, and a campaign that changed law across the British commonwealth and led the world in the abolition of slavery.
CGA has been on site for the Revitalise 250 project for over a year: the extension and internal fit-out and refurbishment of the 18th-century building. Works have included new extensions to the north and south elevations, specialist interior works to the Narthex, Nave, Gallery and Chancel, and a new M&E installation throughout. In the weeks before the birthday, the team worked to achieve partial possession in time for the 250th celebration services to go ahead in the newly refurbished space.
HTC have been generous in their thanks for the care the site team and supply chain have given the project. A few months of work remain and we look forward to delivering the finished building to the congregation.
