As we approach the close of another remarkable year, we’re excited to share updates on several of our ongoing projects, recent awards, and team developments. Our December 2024 newsletter highlights the breadth and diversity of our work—from historic restorations and strategic refurbishments to new additions to our growing team. What's Happening in December 2024
Recent project awards
Holy Trinity Church, Clapham
We are commencing the £4.5m extension and internal fit out and refurbishment of an 18th century church this month. Special thanks to Adam Hill and Matt Wistow who worked closely with the client to help value engineer the project. Alfonso will be managing the project, together with Mark Lofthouse and works will run for 52 weeks.
North Gate Apartments, St Johns Wood
We have been awarded the refurbishment and redecoration works of communal areas to nine apartment blocks. The works will be phased over 24 months running through to 2026, with total project value of £1.35m commencing on site this month and managed by Sam Bonfield.
3 Chester Row, Knightsbridge
We are commencing £315k of internal and external refurbishment works this month at a private residential building in Knightsbridge. The project will be managed by Luke Calver and will run for 20 weeks.
Carter House, City of London
Subject to finalising planning we will be looking to commence works in the new year at a residential block in the city forming new structural steel frames and installation of new lift shafts. The project value is just under £1m and will include undertaking; enabling works, structural and drainage and M&E works in addition to associated brickwork and cladding repairs.
New People Join The Team
We welcomed two new members of staff to the CGA team this quarter;
Jana Devlin joins us in the role of Bid & Marketing Manager.
Mark Lofthouse has joined as Site Manager.
Project progress
Mitre Passage, Greenwich
We are making great progress, undertaking extensive extension and refurbishment works at Mitre Passage, overseen by Mark Luckin, for a key commercial building in London’s Greenwich Peninsula which will be home to a new Sainsbury’s. The project has involved demolition, structural enhancements, façade design, and a high end internal fit out and is expected to complete in January 2025.
Burnt Ash & Chislehurst Libraries, Bromley
We started works on site two months ago for new client Bromley Council to refurbish, Burnt Ash & Chislehurst Libraries. Zak is managing the works which will see the Burnt Ash Library complete first in December before starting on site at the second project, Chislehurst Library in January 2025, which will run until May 2025.
Connect5 Networking
In November we co-hosted our final Connect5 networking event of the year. This time we partnered with industry colleagues; Graphic Structures, Spatial Dimensions, Smith Jenkins and Velocity. The evening was a great success with over 60 guests in attendance. Thanks to Alfonso, Danny and Jana for supporting on the night.
Project Completions
All Hallows by the Tower, City of London
We are set to complete works this month at All Hallows by the Tower, the oldest church in the City of London. Paul McKeavney has been managing the works which commenced in the summer, seeing upgrades to the roofs to the North Aisle with provision of a green roof and installation of solar panelling to the South Aisle. There have also been some repairs to cornices, stonework and brickwork.
St Louis Catholic Primary School, Aylesbury
We completed the multi-phased refurbishment works at St Louis Catholic Primary School, which included the provision of new toilets, reception and communal areas, in addition to the covering and repurposing of a former external courtyard to form further teaching space.
Marylebone Boys School, Paddington
This summer we completed remodelling works to the school to create a dedicated autism unit. The works consist of installing new partitions, ceilings, fittings and finishes ready for the new school term in September.
Ark Globe Academy, Southwark
We completed upgrades and improvement works at the 1200 pupil school. The works included the strip out and fit out of toilets, across three floors and the associated M&E works.
Park View School, Haringey
We delivered the recladding and remedial works to the school sports hall. Works included removal of non compliant wall cladding, fencing, painting steel, extension to AHU platform.
